Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy (OT) is treatment that helps you improve your ability to perform daily tasks. It can help you learn how to move through your environment or use different tools to participate in your activities safely.

You might need OT after trauma or an injury. Some people do occupational therapy to manage symptoms from a chronic (long-term) condition or disability.

Initially, I offer a free screening via phone to discuss what you want to improve, and determine next steps.

In-person, I offer a comprehensive evaluation to collaborate on defining your goals, and develop a treatment plan based on you or your needs. I will measure the results of therapy at the end of treatment. Typically, treatment meetings are weekly or bi-weekly.

Integrated Learning System

ILS is a listening therapy that improves brain and body function by combining music and movement, harnessing the power of neuroplasticity.

Specially treated music, delivered through air and bone conduction headphones, provides sensory input to the brain and body. The listener then receives additional sensory and motor input for body organization by engaging in a wide range of movement activities that are customizable for all levels and ages.

The ILS is based on the fact that we can change our brain at any age. Similar to building strength and endurance with physical exercise, we are able to build neurological pathways and synaptic activity through specific and repeated stimulation, a concept known as neuroplasticity that is the foundation of the science behind the ILS.

Highlights of the ILS programs:

● Five listening programs developed to address specific challenges and needs.

● Provides simultaneous multisensory input to help develop new, and reinforce existing, neural pathways governing organization of the body and brain function.

● Cognitive activities challenge the brain to process multiple pieces of simultaneous information, which is reflective of demands required of the brain in our day-to-day world.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a treatment that healthcare providers use for pain and movement issues associated with myofascial trigger points. With this technique, a provider inserts thin needles into or near your trigger points. The needles stimulate your muscles, which causes them to contract or twitch. This helps relieve pain and improve your range of motion.
